WCEA are happy to announce the launch of the Labour Care Guide Course

The World Continuing Education Alliance (WCEA) is very excited to announce the launch of the new Labour Care Guide course. In partnership with WHO HQ, WHO AFRO, UNFPA & UNICEF ESA Regional Offices, WCEA hosted a series of 3 virtual webinars over 6 weeks during February and March on the LCG & the implementation into Maternity Units in Africa.

The event was a massive success with over 2,000 nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals tuning in for the 3 sessions, thus evidencing the power and importance of virtual technologies and WCEA’s network of healthcare professionals in Africa.

“Effective monitoring of labour accompanied with timely implementation of evidence-based interventions is the backbone of labour and delivery care. We encourage all health care workers providing labour and delivery care to use the Labour Care Guide.” says Dr Nancy Kidula, WHO IST/ESA.  “As with any other skill, the more you practice using the Labour Care Guide, the easier and more efficient it becomes.” says Fatima Gohar UNICEF ESARO.

“For the first time we have a tool that allows us to monitor evidence based non-clinical interventions during labour” says Muna Abdullah, UNFPA ESARO.

“After the first webinar session on the Introduction to WHO labour Care guide where I learnt so much, I decided to do a video explaining what I learnt so I could share with colleagues here in Nigeria” says Koyono Erasmus Ikpi (Nursing superintendent, BLS, ACLS, PALS).

“The new Labor Care Guide is a comprehensive way of managing women in labour as it has incorporated all the necessary things that are important for any woman to through labour and delivery with little pain and also preventing complications that may arise during all stages of labour. I learnt so much during the series and am able to pass on this knowledge to colleagues in my unit and now also refer them to the course which is now available in the WCEA App. Thank you for investing us and empowering us” says Moneko Zoto, Senior Nursing Officer, BSN & UCM, Malawi.

“It was a privilege for WCEA to be a stakeholder in this excellent & well organized LCG webinar series with the 3 UN Agencies. We look forward to disseminating further in the AFRO region with the launch of the course” says Craig Fitzpatrick, WCEA Program Director.

The course is now available via your Council or Association or WCEA Open App. For further enquiries please contact [email protected]
