Cervical cancer; The crucial role of PHC providers

Hosted & Sponsored by:

Cervical cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in women, after breast cancer. It is also one of the few preventable cancers, with the advent of vaccinations and the availability of screening methods to detect early cancer.
There have been massive challenges in the uptake of these preventive strategies over the years, and the numbers reflect this. Where are our gaps? And what can we do as primary health care providers to narrow these gaps?

Webinar Title: Cervical cancer; The crucial role of primary health care providers

Objectives:

  • The burden of cervical cancer in developing countries.
  • The impact of cervical cancer preventive strategies.

  • Practical solutions in cancer screening and vaccination.

Speaker:  Dr Susan Cheruiyot

I am a doctor with years of experience in rural Kenya, and currently a resident in Family Medicine, a course inspired by my previous work in the villages. I am passionate about the role of primary health care providers in delivering quality, low cost and impactful services to people which ultimately means that their quality and duration of life are prolonged. I am particularly interested in women and reproductive health, an area with a lot of advancement and opportunity for impact in a gender regarded as the pillar of society.
